Professional Series for higher density, stronger output, and smoother finished installations.

Architectural Series for premium light quality, ultra-high density, COB technology, and applications where the lighting itself is part of the design.

The goal is not to automatically buy the most expensive strip. It is to choose the level of performance that makes sense for your project.

A simple rule of thumb: choose Contractor when value matters most, Professional for most finished installations, and Architectural when light quality and the finished appearance are especially important.

What Are You Actually Paying More For?

At first glance, many LED strips look similar. They may use the same voltage, have the same width, or even produce similar amounts of light.

The difference becomes much more noticeable once you look at how the strip is built and how it performs in the finished installation.

As you move from Contractor to Professional to Architectural Series, you are generally paying for some combination of:

• More LEDs packed into the same length
• Smoother, more uniform illumination
• Higher light output
• Better color rendering
• More premium white color temperatures
• Shorter cut intervals
• 24V operation on many premium models
• COB or ultra-high-density construction
• Better performance behind LED channels and diffusers

These differences matter most when the light is visible, close to a diffuser, illuminating premium materials, or being used as part of the design rather than simply providing background illumination.

30 vs. 60 vs. 120 LEDs/m: Why LED Density Matters

One of the easiest ways to understand the difference between the series is LED density.

Our typical progression is:

Contractor Series — 30 LEDs/m

Professional Series — 60 LEDs/m

Architectural Series — 120 LEDs/m or COB

As LED density increases, the individual LEDs are positioned closer together. This generally creates a smoother line of light and makes individual bright spots less noticeable.

That difference becomes especially important when LED strip is installed inside an aluminum channel with a diffuser. A lower-density strip may still show visible points of light, particularly in a shallow channel. Higher-density and COB strips make it much easier to achieve a continuous, finished appearance.

More LEDs are not automatically better for every application, though. If the strip is hidden deep inside a cove and only indirect light is visible, a lower-density strip may perform perfectly well.

Contractor Series: Reliable Light Without Paying for Performance You Don’t Need

Our Contractor Series is designed for projects where dependable LED lighting and value are more important than maximum density or premium architectural light quality.

With a typical density of 30 LEDs/m, Contractor Series strips provide plenty of light for many accent and indirect-lighting applications while keeping the cost down.

They are a strong choice for:

• Toe-kick lighting
• Shelf lighting
• Accent lighting
• Hidden cove lighting
• Utility lighting
• Backlighting
• Projects where the LED strip itself is well hidden

Choose Contractor Series if:

• Cost is an important part of the project
• The LED strip will be mostly hidden
• You are creating accent or indirect light
• Maximum uniformity is not necessary
• You want a simple, dependable LED strip without paying for features you will not see

For many projects, Contractor Series is all you need.

There is no benefit to paying for architectural-level density if the installation will never allow you to see the difference.

Professional Series: The Sweet Spot for Most Installations

Professional Series is where we step up to 60 LEDs/m, typically doubling the LED density of Contractor Series strip.

That closer spacing provides stronger output and a smoother appearance while still keeping the price well below our most premium Architectural options.

For many residential, commercial, and contractor-installed projects, this is the sweet spot.

Professional Series works especially well for:

• Under-cabinet lighting
• Kitchen lighting
• Cove lighting
• Shelving
• Displays
• Residential accent lighting
• Retail lighting
• Aluminum channel installations
• Projects where the finished appearance matters

Choose Professional Series if:

• You want smoother light than a standard-density strip
• You need more output
• The strip is being installed closer to the visible surface
• You are using an LED channel and diffuser
• You want a strong balance between price and performance

If you are unsure which level you need, Professional Series is often the safest place to start.

It provides a noticeable performance upgrade without automatically moving into the highest-priced products.

Architectural Series: When the Light Is Part of the Design

Architectural Series is built for projects where the lighting is expected to look as good as the rest of the finished space.

These products include our ultra-high-density 120 LEDs/m strips, COB strips, 95+ CRI options, tunable white products, premium 24V strips, and extra-warm white options down to 2200K.

The goal is not simply more brightness.

It is better control over the quality and appearance of the light.

Architectural Series is designed for applications such as:

• High-end residential interiors
• Custom kitchens
• Premium cabinetry and millwork
• Hospitality
• Restaurants
• Retail displays
• Museums and galleries
• Architectural coves

Architectural Series is where the extra cost becomes easiest to justify when the finished lighting is something people will actually see and experience.

A typical comparison might look like:

30 LEDs/m — Contractor Series

More space between LEDs. Excellent for hidden accent and indirect lighting.

60 LEDs/m — Professional Series

Closer spacing and a smoother line of light. A strong option for most finished installations.

120 LEDs/m — Architectural Series

Very tight LED spacing for highly uniform illumination and improved performance behind diffusers.

COB — Architectural Series

A continuous phosphor surface designed to produce an extremely smooth, dot-free appearance.

When comparing the strips directly, the difference may seem modest while they are turned off.

Once they are installed inside the same shallow channel and diffuser, the difference can become much more obvious.

That is why we recommend choosing LED density based on the finished installation, not simply the strip itself.

Does Everyone Need Architectural Series?

No.

And that is important.

If you are lighting a deep ceiling cove where the LED strip is completely hidden and only reflected light reaches the room, an Architectural Series strip may not provide enough visible benefit to justify the added cost.

The same is true for simple toe-kick lighting, utility applications, or basic accent lighting.

In those cases, Contractor or Professional Series may be the smarter choice.

Architectural Series makes the most sense when one or more of these matter:

• Color quality
• Premium materials
• Shallow channels
• Precise fitting
• High CRI
• Specialized white temperatures
• Tunable white
• COB
• The overall quality of the finished installation

The right LED strip is not necessarily the most expensive one. It is the one whose performance matches the project.

Which Series Is Best for Your Application?

Here are a few practical examples.

Toe-Kick Lighting

Recommended: Contractor Series

The strip is usually hidden and the floor receives indirect light. Paying for ultra-high density rarely provides a meaningful visual improvement.

Under-Cabinet Lighting

Recommended: Professional Series

Under-cabinet installations benefit from stronger output and smoother LED spacing. Professional Series is a good balance of performance and price.

High-End Kitchen with Shallow Aluminum Channels

Recommended: Architectural Series

This is where tight LED spacing, better diffusion, high CRI, and premium white-light options can make a noticeable difference.

Hidden Cove Lighting

Recommended: Contractor or Professional

A deep cove can hide individual LED points very effectively. Choose Professional if you need more output or a smoother result.

Retail Display Lighting

Recommended: Professional or Architectural

If the products being illuminated need accurate color rendering, consider 95+ CRI Architectural Series.

Custom Millwork and Cabinetry

Recommended: Architectural Series

Precise cut intervals, tight LED spacing, premium CCTs and high CRI are particularly valuable in custom-built installations.

Restaurants and Hospitality

Recommended: Architectural Series

Extra-warm 2200K and 2700K white options, high CRI, and smooth light can create a much more intentional atmosphere.

When Is 95+ CRI Worth It?

CRI, or Color Rendering Index, describes how accurately a light source renders colors compared with a natural reference.

For basic accent lighting, extremely high CRI may not be necessary.

But when LED lighting is illuminating:

• Wood
• Stone
• Food
• Fabrics
• Artwork
• Merchandise
• Skin tones
• High-end finishes

the difference can matter.

Our premium Architectural Series includes 95+ CRI options for applications where color accuracy is a priority.

This is one of the areas where paying more can improve something beyond brightness. The room, materials, and objects being illuminated can simply look better.

Why 2200K Is Different

Most warm-white LED strips begin around 2700K.

Some of our premium Architectural Series strips extend down to 2200K, producing an extra-warm white appearance closer to candlelight or very warm incandescent lighting.

2200K works particularly well in:

• Restaurants
• Hospitality
• Luxury residential interiors
• Wood-heavy spaces
• Bedrooms
• Evening ambient lighting
• Decorative architectural lighting

It provides another level of control over the mood of the finished space.

Where COB Fits In

COB stands for Chip-on-Board.

Instead of clearly separated SMD LED packages, COB strip uses a large number of tiny LED chips beneath a continuous phosphor layer.

The result is an extremely smooth line of light with little or no visible spotting.

COB is an excellent choice for:

• Shallow aluminum channels
• Reflective surfaces
• Display cases
• Millwork
• Under-cabinet lighting
• Backlighting
• Applications where the strip itself may be more visible

COB is part of our Architectural Series because its primary advantage is the quality of the finished light.

LED Channels Make the Difference Even More Noticeable

LED strip and aluminum channels work together.

A channel provides a clean mounting surface, helps protect the strip, and allows a diffuser to soften the light.

But the strip you place inside the channel still matters.

Lower-density strips may show individual LED points through shallow diffusers.

Higher-density Professional and Architectural strips reduce that effect, while ultra-high-density and COB products are particularly well suited to applications where a smooth finished line of light is important.

If the finished appearance matters, we recommend considering the strip and channel together as a lighting system rather than choosing them independently.

There is no single LED strip that is best for every project.

A hidden accent-lighting installation may be perfectly served by a 30 LEDs/m Contractor strip. Professional Series provides the higher density and smoother output that many finished installations benefit from. Architectural Series goes further with ultra-high density, COB, 95+ CRI, premium color temperatures and more precise installation options.

Think of the series as performance levels, not different types of lighting:

Contractor Series — dependable performance and strong value for everyday lighting.

Professional Series — higher density and output for smoother, more demanding installations.

The goal is not to automatically choose the highest series. It is to select the level of performance your project will actually benefit from.
