Description

The Luxeon Rebel LEDs have been discontinued and replaced by the Luxeon C LEDs; the remaining stock is a closeout item and will be gone once we run out of the current stock. The ecosystem of Luxeon Rebel LEDs is fully developed and tested, providing industry highs in use, light output, color stability, flux density, and clear saturation.   The combination of colors (green, cyan, blue, royal blue, red, red-orange, PC amber, and amber) gives lighting designers a vast array of color hues to work with.

1-up led star optic versus 3-up led star optic

LED Star MCPCB

We offer the color Luxeon Rebel LEDs on two different Endor Star metal core printed circuit boards (MCPCB): a single (1-Up: 1 LED) and triple (3-Up: 3 LEDs). The 1-Up Endor Star board is a single Rebel LED reflow soldered to a 20mm hexagonal (LED Star) MCPCB. The MCPCB has four large solder pads for easy solder connections. The 3-Up Endor Star board is three (3) Rebel LEDs reflow soldered in-series to a 20mm hexagonal MCPCB. The 3-Up MCPCB has two solder pads for connections, mounting holes for secondary Carclo optics and a center hole for wires or securing the LED star to a heat sink.

Colors

The colors available are:  Deep-Red (660nm), Red (627nm), Red-Orange (617nm), Amber (590nm), Lime (567), Green (530nm), Cyan (505nm), Blue (470nm) and Royal-Blue (447.5nm).  More Specifications on each color are listed below.

Secondary Optics

Both versions (1-Up & 3-Up) are designed to work with secondary optics from Carclo; Carclo is a leader in molded poly-carbonate lens systems. The 1-Up secondary lens system combines a plastic holder and lens that sits on top of the 1-Up MCPCB, while the 3- Up optic is a one-piece system with three legs that sit down into corresponding holes on the 3-Up MCPCB. These secondary optics focus light into narrow, medium, wide and elliptical patterns. More option information and options are available on this page under the Accessories tab above.

For referencing detailed specifications there are tables and downloadable documentation below.  Important Note: Unless noted otherwise the specifications list are for a single Color Rebel LED. This means that in most cases the values need to be tripled for applications with the 3-Up version. For Example, if the forward voltage listed is 2.95V @ 350mA, the 3-Up version would be 8.85V.

Notes for Table

  • LXML-PR01-XXXX, LXM2-PL01-XXXX and LXM3-PD01-XXXX emitters are tested at 350 mA, LXML-PR02-XXXX emitters are tested at 700 mA.
  • Dominant wavelength is derived from the CIE 1931 Chromaticity diagram and represents the perceived color. Philips Lumileds maintains a tolerance of ± 0.5 nm for dominant wavelength measurements.
  • Royal-blue product is binned by radiometric power and peak wavelength rather than photometric lumens. Philips Lumileds maintains a tolerance of ± 2nm for peak wavelength measurements.
  • Spectral width at ½ of the peak intensity
  • Total angle at which 90% of total luminous flux is captured.
  • Viewing angle is the off axis angle from lamp centerline where the luminous intensity is ½ of the peak value.
  • PC amber, green, cyan, blue and royal-blue products are built with Indium Gallium Nitride (InGaN).
  • All red, deep red, red-orange, and amber are built with Aluminum Indium Gallium Phosphide (AlInGaP).

Important Information

Average Lumen Maintenance Characteristics LUXEON Rebel color emitters are tested and binned at 350 mA and LUXEON Rebel ES royal-blue at 700 mA, with current pulse duration of 20 ms. All characteristic charts where the thermal pad is kept at constant temperature (25ºC typically) are measured with current pulse duration of 20 ms. Under these conditions, junction temperature and thermal pad temperature are the same.

Philips Lumileds projects that green, cyan, blue and all royal-blue LUXEON Rebel color products will deliver, on average, 70% lumen maintenance (B50, L70) at 50,000 hours of operation at a forward current of 700 mA. This projection is based on constant current operation with junction temperature maintained at or below 135°C. Red, red-orange and amber LUXEON Rebel color products will also deliver, on average, 70% lumen maintenance (B50, L70) at 50,000 hours of operation at a forward current of 350 mA and is based on constant current operation with junction temperature maintained at or below 110°C. LUXEON Rebel PC amber delivers, on average, 70% lumen maintenance (L70) at 50,000 hours of operation at a forward current of up to 700 mA. This projection is based on constant current operation with junction temperature maintained at or below 130°C.

This performance is based on independent test data, Philips Lumileds historical data from tests run on similar material systems, and internal LUXEON Rebel reliability testing. Observation of design limits included in this data sheet is required in order to achieve this projected lumen maintenance.
