Confirm these three decisions before ordering

Choose color-changing light intentionally RGB is best for color scenes and effects. It can mix an approximate white, but it does not include a dedicated white-light channel.
Include an RGB controller A compatible 12–24V RGB controller is required to select colors, adjust brightness and activate supported effects.
Plan power and four-conductor wiring Allow 5W/ft, size both the power supply and controller for the connected load, and plan every field cut, lead and sealed termination.

Create the lighting effect

Mix colors and change the atmosphere after installation

A compatible controller independently adjusts the red, green and blue channels. Blend the channels for custom static colors, dim the installation or use the effects supported by the selected controller.

Custom Static Colors Mix red, green and blue channels to match a brand, design concept or preferred atmosphere.
Brightness Control Dim the selected color to create low-level indirect illumination beneath benches and behind backrests.
Scenes and Effects Use the programs available in the chosen controller for fades, transitions and color-changing scenes.
RGB does not include a dedicated white LED channel. Combining red, green and blue can create an approximate white appearance, but choose RGBW when the project needs both color effects and a dedicated everyday white light. Place the controller between the 24V power supply and strip, and keep both components outside the sauna.

Power planning

Size the driver before you buy

Calculate the strip load, then add at least 20% capacity so the driver is not operated continuously at its maximum rating.

  • Load: total strip feet × 5W/ft
  • Minimum driver: calculated load × 1.20
  • Also confirm that the RGB controller can carry the total load and current at 24V.

Installation planning

Designed for indirect sauna lighting

  • Position the strip beneath benches, behind backrests, under toe kicks or inside architectural recesses.
  • Keep the strip away from the heater and localized areas that can exceed its 90°C maximum rating.
  • Install the power supply, RGB controller and other sensitive electronics outside the sauna.
  • Use the supplied mounting clips for added mechanical support; do not rely solely on adhesive in elevated temperatures.
  • For runs longer than 32.8 ft, use separate parallel feeds back to the power source to help control voltage drop.
Important IP68 requirement

Cutting changes the factory-sealed installation

The strip can be cut every 4 inches at the marked cut points, but cutting the factory-sealed strip forfeits the manufacturer's IP68 rating at that cut end. Properly reseal every field-cut end and connection wherever IP68 protection is required. If you want to reduce field work, LEDSupply can cut the strip to length, solder leads and provide custom wiring or assembly before shipment.

Want LEDSupply to review the complete sauna system?

We can review your project or BOM, confirm component compatibility, prepare a custom quote, cut strip to length, solder leads, create custom wiring and provide assembly when needed.

Frequently asked questions

RGB sauna strip questions

Can this LED strip be installed inside a sauna?

Yes. It is engineered for high-temperature and high-moisture environments and has an operating range up to 90°C / 194°F. Keep it away from the heater and any localized area that may exceed that rating.

How does RGB LED strip create different colors?

The strip contains red, green and blue LED channels. A compatible three-channel RGB controller varies each channel to mix custom colors, adjust brightness and run any effects supported by that controller.

Is an RGB controller required?

Yes. A standard single-channel dimmer cannot independently control the red, green and blue channels. Use a compatible 12–24V RGB controller sized for the connected load.

Can RGB strip produce white light?

It can mix red, green and blue to create an approximate white appearance, but it does not have a dedicated white LED channel. Choose fixed white or tunable white when white-light quality is the main goal, or RGBW when the project needs both color effects and dedicated white light.

What size power supply does one full roll require?

A 16.4 ft roll uses approximately 82W based on the 5W/ft rating. With at least 20% headroom, use a 24V constant-voltage power supply rated 100W or greater.

Can the power supply or controller go inside the sauna?

No. Install the power supply, controller and other control electronics outside the sauna, where they are protected from excessive heat and moisture.

Can the strip be cut to length?

Yes. It can be cut every 4 inches at the designated cut points. A field cut breaks the factory seal at that end, so the end must be properly resealed wherever IP68 protection is required.

Can LEDSupply prepare the strip before shipping?

Yes. LEDSupply can provide cut-to-length strip, soldered leads, custom wiring, project or BOM review, custom quotes and assembly when needed. Send the project details to sales@ledsupply.com.
