Description

The, #CREEXPG2-W474, 6500K Cool-White Cree XLamp® XP-G2 LED is based on top performing silicon carbide LED technology, providing twenty percent more lumens per watt and two and a half times the lumens-per-dollar over the original XLamp XP-G LED. The XP-G2 is still optically compatible for simple performance upgrades and remains inside the popular XP-E packaging. The XP-G2 emitter is re-flowed to a 20mm metal core printed circuit board (MCPCB).  The 20mm MCPCB is a standard hexagonal shape (LED Star), with two solder pads for easy wiring. The MCPCB is compatible with Carclo optics, electrically isolated and shaped so multiple LED stars can be packed closely together to increase light output per unit area.  For optimal LED performance the MCPCB can be secured to a heatsink with either thermal transfer tape, thermal grease or thermal epoxy.

  • Cree maintains a tolerance of ±7% on flux and power measurements, ±0.005 on chromaticity (CCx, CCy) measurements and ±2 on CRI measurements.
  • Typical CRI for Cool White (5000 K - 8300 K CCT) is 70.
  • Typical CRI for Neutral White (3700 K - 5300 K CCT) is 75.
  • Typical CRI for outdoor White (4000 K - 5300 K CCT) is 70.
  • Typical CRI for Warm White (2600 K - 3700 K CCT) is 80.
  • Minimum CRI for 80-CRI White is 80.
  • Flux values @ 25 °C are calculated and for reference only.

    Important Information

Average Lumen Maintenance Characteristics Cree currently recommends a maximum drive current of 1000 mA for XLamp XP-G white in designs seeking the ENERGY STAR* 35,000 hour lifetime rating (â?¥ 94.1% luminous flux @ 6000 hours) or 25,000-hour lifetime rating (â?¥ 91.8% luminous flux @ 6000 hours).

Please read the XLamp Long-Term Lumen Maintenance application note for more details on Creeâ??s lumen maintenance testing and forecasting. Please read the XLamp Thermal Management application note for details on how thermal design, ambient temperature, and drive current affect the LED junction temperature.

    * These lifetime ratings are based on the current ENERGY STAR Solid State Lighting Luminaires V1.1 (December 12, 2008) and ENERGY STAR Integral LED Lamps V1.0 (December 3, 2009) lumen maintenance criteria.

    LED Lumen Comparison Chart:

Here is a Lumen comparison chart that provides Lumens (brightness) at specific drive currents; also included is the Forward Voltage at that specific current - High Power LEDs often have a wide range of accepted drive currents and the standard documentation usually doesn't list all the different Lumen outputs, so we have done the calculations for you:

    Awesome Bright!!!
I love these LEDs! I use 2 as my lower fog lights and I have replaced my headlight bulbs with these mounted in custom made aluminum heatsinks. They aren't DOT approved but I only use the vehicle offroad. The 4 lights total are more light than I could ever hope for. I am running 2 boards on a Buckblock at 1400mA.

For the past three years I have been designing and refining a life long hobby of mine with the help of David and LED Supply. Led's have taken my sport to a whole new level. I build hand held, waterproof Flounder gigging lights. Before led's I was using a car battery floating on an innertube with two wires from that attached to a truck headlight that was mounted on a piece of pipe.
Now I'm using one XPG2 with leads sealed in non conductive epoxy all encapsulated in a one inch piece of PVC. One led illuminated waterproof switch (not purchased from you) One Of your 1000ma buck pucks all powered by 8 double AA batteries (12v) The entire light is 48 inches long and weighs in at about two and one half pounds while achieving about 1200 lumens. No heat sink is necessary because the water is my heat sink.( light is only used under water) Thanks you LED Supply Garry

    Awsome
Cree LEDs just keep getting better and brighter. The amount of light you can get out of these newer LEDs is just amazing. The 3-Up configuration really maximizes the light output in a small footprint. The high maximum drive current really opens up the driver possibilities.

    Wow!
This thing is AWESOME! You literally can't look directly at this LED when it is on. With the 3-Up narrow Carclo optic I can see well at 100 yards - easy.

    Super Bright
Every time I see this LED lit up, I am amazed at how bright it is for such a little LED. I've used all the Cree LEDs and so far the XPG2 is my favorite!
