These 48V Open Frame Power Supplies take line (AC) voltage and output a steady 48V. Open Frame Switching Power Supplies, as you can see from the picture, are power sources where the circuit board and components are not totally enclosed, as with a desktop or wall wart power supply. Rather, they are encased in a metal casing with small holes throughout. This aids in air flow and cooling as the components are all open to the outside air. Our 48V Open Frame power supplies are offered in 100, 240 and 450 Watt sizes. (see data sheet documentation below for exact technical info on each one)
Low Line & High Line Voltage
There is a switch on the side of each power supply where you can alter the input voltage range. This is important as line voltage will vary from country to country. Here in the U.S. we use low line (90-132VAC) whereas in Canada and Europe they use high line (176-264VAC). Make sure your switch is in the correct position before you hook this up to your line source!
Natural & Active Cooling
As we said above, part of the reason for open fram power supplies is for easier cooling and heat control. If any electrical component gets too hot, it will fail. For the 100 and 240 Watt versions, they are fine with just natural cooling through the vented, small-hole aluminum sheet. For the 450 Watt version, however, there is a small fan that aids in the cooling process since this is a pretty high Wattage, therefore there will be more heat.
All connections are made via screw-in terminals. This makes it super easy to connect all your wires with input ports for your line voltage and couple different output ports if you have multiple lights powered by the one power supply.
There are mounting holes on the power supply if you need to mount to an object. Another way to mount would be using double sided velcro or tape.
